An Award-Winning Wilmington Moving Company

Choosing a mover involves more than comparing hourly rates. You are hiring a crew to handle your furniture, protect your home and keep a complicated day organized. A low price does not help much if the movers arrive understaffed, damage the property or discover halfway through the job that they brought the wrong truck.

Safe Responsible Movers has been serving Massachusetts since 2008. Our company is fully licensed and insured, with commercial auto insurance, cargo coverage, general liability insurance and workers’ compensation coverage for our employees.

Our reputation includes:

  • An A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau
  • Hundreds of five-star reviews on Google and Yelp
  • Named Best Movers by The Improper Bostonian
  • Banker & Tradesman Best Movers Silver Medalist in 2023 and 2024
  • Recognition from Boston Magazine and Boston.com
  • Features on WGBH and NBC10 Boston
  • Recognition from FreightWaves and Extra Space Storage

Those honors were earned through years of real moving work across Massachusetts. You can also read reviews and feedback from previous customers before deciding whether we are the right Wilmington moving company for your job.

Residential Movers for Wilmington Houses

Many Wilmington moves involve more than the furniture found in the main living areas. A single-family home may also include a finished basement, garage, attic, shed, home gym, patio furniture, tools, lawn equipment and storage that has accumulated over many years.

Those additional areas matter when estimating the move. A three-bedroom house with a lightly furnished basement is a different job from a three-bedroom house with a workshop, packed garage, outdoor furniture and multiple storage areas. Providing a complete inventory helps us send the appropriate truck and enough movers to finish the work efficiently.

Our Wilmington house movers can handle:

  • Single-family and multifamily homes
  • Townhouses, condominiums and apartments
  • Basements, attics, garages and storage areas
  • Furniture disassembly and reassembly
  • Exercise equipment and home gyms
  • Local moves within Wilmington
  • Moves between Wilmington and other Massachusetts communities
  • In-home and same-property moves

We bring moving blankets, dollies, tools, straps, tape and stretch wrap. Please tell us about unusually heavy furniture, difficult staircases, tight turns or items that may require additional planning before moving day.

Moving in Wilmington Requires the Right Crew and Truck

Wilmington is not as densely packed as central Boston, but that does not mean every move has easy access. Long driveways, sloped walkways, stairs from the garage, basement access, narrow interior turns and substantial walking distances can all add time to a move.

Moves around Wilmington Center, North Wilmington and Silver Lake can also involve different road and property layouts. Access from I-93 and Routes 38, 62 and 129 makes Wilmington convenient, but the exact street, driveway and truck position still matter on moving day.

When requesting a quote, let us know about:

  • The number of bedrooms and approximate amount of furniture
  • Basements, garages, attics and sheds
  • Stairs at the pickup and delivery locations
  • Long driveways or long carries from the truck
  • Condo rules, elevator reservations or restricted loading areas
  • Heavy exercise equipment, safes or workshop items
  • Items requiring disassembly
  • Any property where a large moving truck may have difficulty turning around

A larger crew can sometimes cost less overall than sending too few movers. For a substantial Wilmington house move, adding a third or fourth mover may significantly reduce the total number of working hours, especially when the job includes multiple floors, a basement or a long walk between the house and truck.

How Much Do Wilmington Movers Cost?

The cost of a Wilmington move depends on the crew size, truck size, total working time, inventory, stairs, walking distance, furniture disassembly and access at both locations.

Our starting rates include:

  • Two movers and a 16-foot truck: $179 per hour plus travel fee
  • Three movers and a 16-foot truck: $239 per hour plus travel fee
  • Four movers and a 16-foot truck: $299 per hour plus travel

Our moves have a two-hour labor minimum. The travel fee covers the crew’s travel to the first location from our office and the return trip after the move. Time beyond the minimum is billed in 15-minute increments.

The truck comes equipped with moving blankets, dollies, tools, straps and basic furniture protection. Tape and stretch wrap used during the move are included.

Larger homes may require a larger truck, additional movers or multiple trucks. The best way to receive an accurate quote is to provide a complete inventory along with information about stairs, parking, basements, garages and any unusually heavy items.

Labor-Only Movers in Wilmington

Not every move requires a moving company to provide the truck. Our labor-only movers provide professional moving help when you already have a rental truck, POD, portable storage container or on-site storage unit.

Labor-only moving services are useful for:

  • Loading or unloading a U-Haul, Penske, Budget or Enterprise truck
  • Loading and unloading PODS and portable storage containers
  • ABF U-Pack trailers and ReloCubes
  • Storage unit loading and unloading
  • Moving furniture within the same house
  • Moving belongings between floors
  • Rearranging furniture before renovations
  • Preparing a house for painting, flooring or staging

This is also an option for Wilmington residents moving outside Massachusetts. Safe Responsible Movers performs transportation within Massachusetts, but we can load a customer-provided rental truck or portable container for an interstate move. You arrange the transportation, and our crew handles the lifting and loading in Wilmington.

Proper loading is important. Furniture and boxes must be positioned tightly enough to use the available space while reducing movement during transportation. A poorly loaded rental truck or container can result in damaged furniture, crushed boxes and an unstable load.

Peloton Movers Serving Wilmington

Heavy fitness equipment requires more planning than ordinary furniture. Safe Responsible Movers provides Peloton moving services for Wilmington customers with a Peloton Bike, Bike+, Tread, Tread+ or Row.

We can move Peloton equipment:

  • Between homes in Massachusetts
  • Upstairs or downstairs within the same house
  • Into or out of a basement gym
  • Between a home and storage facility
  • During renovations or room rearrangements

Peloton Bikes are generally more manageable than Treads, but the screen and other components still require protection. Peloton Tread and Tread+ machines are substantially heavier and may require partial disassembly and a larger crew.

We generally require at least three movers for Peloton Tread jobs involving stairs. Please send photographs of the equipment, staircase, landings and any tight turns so we can determine whether the move is safe and how many movers will be needed.

Wilmington Movers Who Accept RAFT

Safe Responsible Movers works with Massachusetts residents receiving moving assistance through the Residential Assistance for Families in Transition program. Our RAFT moving service is available for approved moves in Wilmington and throughout Massachusetts.

RAFT-funded moves require a more detailed quoting and approval process than ordinary private-pay moves. We need accurate information about the inventory, addresses, stairs, access and requested moving date before preparing the flat-rate invoice that you submit to your caseworker.

The basic process is:

  1. Contact us with complete information about the move.
  2. Provide an accurate inventory and photographs when requested.
  3. We prepare an invoice for submission to your RAFT caseworker.
  4. Your caseworker reviews and approves the funding.
  5. The move is officially scheduled after approval is received.

Please do not wait until the last minute to begin the RAFT process. Funding approval can take time, and a requested moving date cannot be guaranteed until the invoice has been approved and the move has been confirmed with our office.

Single-Item Movers and Furniture Delivery

Sometimes you do not need a full household move. You may need help moving one couch, treadmill, dining table, antique, oversized cabinet or Facebook Marketplace purchase.

Our single-item movers can provide the truck, transportation and moving labor for items that are too large, heavy or awkward to move on your own.

Before requesting a quote, measure the item, doorways, staircases and any tight turns. A couch that fits comfortably in one house may not fit through the entrance or staircase at the delivery location. Photographs and measurements help us identify possible access problems before the crew arrives.

Winter Moving in Wilmington

Winter moves are common in Wilmington, but snow and ice can make an otherwise straightforward job much more difficult. The safest and most efficient winter moves begin with a clear path between the house and truck.

Before the movers arrive:

  • Plow or shovel the driveway and truck parking area
  • Clear stairs, walkways and exterior landings
  • Salt icy surfaces
  • Remove snowbanks that block access to the house
  • Keep indoor entryways clear for floor protection

Our movers use blankets, stretch wrap and other protection as appropriate, but active snow and rain can still slow the process. We monitor serious winter weather and communicate with customers when conditions could affect safety or scheduling.

Moving Within Wilmington or Anywhere in Massachusetts

Safe Responsible Movers handles local and statewide moves that begin or end in Wilmington. We can move you across town, into Greater Boston, to the North Shore, to MetroWest, to the South Shore, to Worcester County, to Cape Cod or elsewhere within Massachusetts.

We do not provide interstate transportation. Customers moving out of state can still hire us for labor-only loading of a rental truck, POD or portable storage container in Wilmington.
