Safe Responsible Duxbury Movers

As Duxbury Movers, we like the South Shore. Of course, we move anywhere and everywhere in Massachusetts, but the South Shore is fun. Why? Because the beach is always fun. And because we love a challenge. We say this in every post we do about a town with older houses — but it’s true — you need a split box spring if you live in an old house. Well, Duxbury is a very old town. Incorporated in 1637, Duxbury was one of the very first English settlements to break off from Plymouth.

Ever seen the Powder Point Bridge? It’s pretty cool! In fact, the bridge is over fifty yards wide at its widest point.  It connects the six-mile Duxbury Beach with the rest of the town proper. The bridge was also a filming location for the 2016 Chris Pine and Casey Affleck thriller The Finest Hours. Before its 1986 rebuild, Powder Point Bridge was the longest and oldest wooden bridge in the world, dating from 1892.

Fun fact: That “Boston accent” that rose to prominence in movies over the past decade or two is pretty rare in Boston these days. You’re more likely to hear that voice on the South Shore now — for a variety of historical reasons. Another fun fact: Duxbury, MA serves as the main location of episode 12 of the fourth season of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. show. Never heard of that show? Neither had we — until we did a quick Google search to find fun facts to beef up this post. Anyway, here’s the synopsis from a website called “Fandom”:

S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents Billy and Sam Koenig went to Al and Cam’s Arcade [in Duxbury, MA] as part of “Operation Hot Potato,” waiting for further instructions. The pair rode Segways and quoted Star Wars to each other before Billy was approached by Leo Babikov. Billy defeated Babikov and ran, ending up in a shootout with another member of the Watchdogs. Sam was attacked by a Watchdog, but Billy defeated his attacked and left the building, where he was incapacitated by Tucker Shockley’s Taser Rod and kidnapped. Sam left the arcade and contacted Phil Coulson to tell him that Billy had been taken.
